FREE · HALFTIME ALTERNATIVE · VST3 / AU
A free HalfTime alternative that does more than half speed.
Cableguys HalfTime (about $12) does one job really well: half-speed playback with band split and smooth fades. SCRAMBLE does half-time for free and keeps going: tape stops, reverses, rolls, delay, reverb, tape and pitch, all picked by twisting a Rubik's cube.

Half-time, and the rest of the flip.
Half-time
STUDIO's half-time reels drop your loop to half speed for the slowed, heavy part.
TIME
MORE FX's TIME plays each 16th normal, half speed, reversed, rolled or stopped.
Tape stop
The slow-down-to-nothing drop, locked to your tempo.
Space + colour
Delay throws, reverb and tape on the same twist, so the half-time part sounds finished.
How to get the sound.
- Put SCRAMBLE on a loop, a drum bus or the master and pick STUDIO (or MORE FX for TIME).
- Twist the cube until the half-time part hits. Solve takes you back to dry.
- Automate a twist into the drop, or turn on the sequencer for a new move every bar.
SCRAMBLE is out now, and it's free.
All 8 FX modes, the full cube, the sequencer and 237 presets. Mac + Windows, no card needed.
Questions
Is SCRAMBLE a full HalfTime replacement?
For half-time on a loop or beat, yes, and it's free. HalfTime has things SCRAMBLE doesn't: 1.5x and 4x speeds, band split and long fade-ins. SCRAMBLE adds tape stops, reverses, rolls and a whole FX chain.
Is it free?
Yes. STUDIO and MORE FX are in the free version, with 237 presets. The $49 Bundle adds all 2,800 presets.
Does it stay in time?
Yes. Everything follows your DAW's tempo.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. Mac gets VST3 and AU (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows gets VST3 plus a standalone app. It loads in FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro and other DAWs. Not Pro Tools yet (no AAX).
