illformed's Glitch2 is a legend, and since August 2026 it's free, so grab it. It's a step sequencer for glitch: you draw which effect plays on which step. SCRAMBLE gets to glitched-out loops from the other direction: you twist a Rubik's cube and every position is a new chain of stutters, reverses, octave jumps, chops, tape stops, delay and reverb. No sequence to draw.

GLITCH mode
Octave-jumping, buzzing, reversed chops on any loop, a new pattern on every twist.
BEAT SCRAMBLE
The cube cuts your loop into 16 slices and re-orders them, so the groove flips but stays in time.
TIME
MORE FX plays each 16th normal, half speed, reversed, rolled or stopped.
Solve = dry
Solve the cube and you're back to the clean loop, so you can glitch one bar and drop back.
When Glitch2 is the better pick
- You want to draw exactly which effect hits on which step, by hand.
- You make IDM or glitch music where hand-sequenced edits are the whole sound.
- You're on Linux (Glitch2 has a Linux build; SCRAMBLE is Mac + Windows).
We'd rather you use the right tool. If that's Glitch2, go for it.
How to get the sound.
- Put SCRAMBLE on a loop, a drum bus or a vocal and pick GLITCH.
- Twist the cube until it breaks the right way.
- Turn on the sequencer for a new twist every bar, or automate a twist into the drop.

Isn't Glitch 2 free now?
Yes, illformed made Glitch2 free in August 2026. They're different tools, so plenty of producers will keep both: Glitch2 for drawn sequences, SCRAMBLE for fast, random-but-musical flips plus delay, reverb, tape and a vocal chain.
Is SCRAMBLE free?
Yes. All 8 FX modes, the cube, the sequencer and 237 presets are free, no time limit. The $49 Bundle adds all 2,800 presets plus the full vocal chain.
Does it stay in time?
Yes. Every glitch follows your DAW's tempo.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. Mac gets VST3 and AU (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows gets VST3 plus a standalone app. It loads in FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro and other DAWs. Not Pro Tools yet (no AAX).
